Simple Baking Powder Biscuits

Soft, buttery and delicious, these baking powder biscuits are fool-proof. You can make it your own with herbs, spices and cheese to mix things up a little.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 55 g butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 cup milk (cold)

Equipment

  • Food processor (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Crumble the cold butter into the flour (the food processor works best to do this).
  • Mix in milk.
  • Place on a lightly floured surface.
  • Flatten the dough to ½ inch thickness.
  • Fold the dough into the thirds (fold the left side onto the center and the right side over the left).
  • Flatten the dough again to ½ inch thickness.
  • Cut out 3-inch biscuits.
  • Place on a parchment lined tray with the bottom (smoother) side up.
  • Brush the tops with butter or milk.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.
