Trinidad hops bread recipe

Trini hops bread or dinner rolls are soft, fluffy bread rolls that are enjoyed at any time of the day. It is delicious when served hot with butter, cheese, ham, meat, or veggies.

Ingredients

  • 580 g flour
  • 65 g butter
  • 1/2 pk yeast
  • 8 g sugar
  • 7 g salt
  • 200 mL milk
  • 230 mL warm water

Instructions

  • Mix warm water, milk, sugar and yeast.
  • Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Place flour and salt in a large bowl. Mix.
  • Crumble the butter into the dry ingredients.
  • Add the water, milk, yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
  • Knead for 10 minutes.
  • Cover and set aside to proof for 1 hour.
  • Punch down.
  • Cover and rest for 1 hour.
  • Divide the dough into 3-inch to 4-inch dough balls.
  • Roll the dough balls to shape them into hops.
  • Place on a baking tray.
  • Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven for 375°F.
  • Bake the hops for 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven.
  • Brush melted butter onto the bread.
  • Serve hot.
