Stir Fried Bok Choy with Garlic and Ginger

Ingredients

  • ½ lb bok choy (2 heads)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (minced)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds for topping
  • water (to prevent burning)

Instructions

  • Separate the bok choy leaves from the stems.
  • Wash the leaves thoroughly. Set aside.
  • Wash, peel and mince the garlic and ginger.
  • Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sugar, and chili flakes together in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Place a large saucepan on medium heat. Allow to heat up.
  • Pour in the sesame oil and vegetable oil.
  • Mix in garlic. Saute for 1 minute.
  • Add ginger. Saute for 1 minute (add a little water if needed to prevent burning).
  • Toss in the bok choy leaves. Mix to coat.
  • Add 1 tbsp of water.
  • Cover the pan.
  • Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Remove the cover.
  • Pour in the soy sauce mixture.
  • Cook for 3 more minutes or until the bok choy stems are tender.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Sprinkle black and white sesame seeds over the bok choy.
  • Serve hot.
