6 Homemade Fresh Ginger Tea Recipes You’ll Love
Love making fresh ginger tea recipes? I have a bunch for you to try! And, they are so good for your overall health and wellbeing. Ginger is such a powerful root and these teas are all mildly spicy, soothing and perfect for colds and immunity boosts.
But, why fresh ginger?
Well, the main bioactive compound in ginger is gingerol and it is abundant in the raw ginger root. And, gingerol is why ginger is so good for you! So, fresh is always best!
Here’s a look at some great homemade ginger recipes you can DIY anytime.

Fresh ginger tea recipes
1. Ginger tea
Ah, the classic and simplest fresh ginger tea to make is with the root and a sweetener. If you’ve never brewed the tea before, this recipe is the perfect place to start to experience the spiciness of the tea. If the 15 minute brewing time makes a tea that’s a little too sharp and spicy for your tastebuds, try reducing the cook time to 10 minutes. This would give you a milder tea.
The drink is perfect for settling any nausea or upset stomach you have.

2. Lemon ginger tea
If you’re looking for a great ginger tea for colds and flus, this lemon ginger tea is the best! It builds upon the classic ginger tea by adding freshly squeezed lemon juice. That pop of lemon cuts the spiciness of the tea and certainly is soothing to your digestive system.
Oh, it also gives you a hit of Vitamin C too! Plus, the acid can help your body absorb less calories! That’s a win win recipe right there.

3. Ginger turmeric tea
Both ginger and turmeric are powerful teas on their own! And, when they’re combined, ginger turmeric tea bring so much to the table! My parents and grandparents always brewed these teas whenever we fell, had aches or pains, or when it was flu season.
It’s best to add a little black pepper to the tea too. It might sound odd to sprinkle a little pepper in your tea but the piperine in black pepper helps your body absorb curcumin, the beneficial compound in turmeric.

4. Ginger green tea
Ginger is effective for reducing BMI and weight. Green tea is also great in that department too! Green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG for short, and it’s linked to lowering body fat, blood pressure, bad cholesterol and weight.
So, this ginger green tea is the perfect tea for your weight loss journey. Oh, and green tea has some caffeine in it which gives you a little lift without the coffee jitters.

5. Lemongrass ginger tea
Bring in some extra Asian flare with lemongrass. This herb adds great citrusy, lemony flavors to ginger’s earthy, spicy taste. It is subtle, mellow and tastes like a soothing, self care, wellness drink.
Lemongrass is also a powerhouse herb too and has tremendous antimicrobial properties. So, of all the ginger tea recipes, this lemongrass ginger one is my favorite for battling a cold and flu.

6. Garlic ginger tea
For an extra spicy, immunity boosting tea, try this garlic ginger tea. It has a bold, strong ginger taste with an equally strong garlicky after taste. It’s not something I make too often but it does have great health benefits.

Those are my delightful ginger tea variations. Which ones do you love or which ones are you planning on trying next? Let me know in the comments below.
