Strawberry Banana Nice Cream: Easy Strawberry and Banana Dessert

|

Perfect for summer or just a hot day, this strawberry banana nice cream is sure to cool you down. It is such a healthy, refreshing strawberry and banana dessert. Did I mention it’s vegan too?

What exactly is nice cream? It is any cold dessert made by blending frozen fruit, especially banana, and has a consistency similar to ice cream. Nice creams are often dairy-free, vegan and sugar-free so they are great alternatives to regular ice cream.

After you’re done with this recipe, be sure to stop by my strawberry and mango smoothie recipe too. It’s just as yummy. Oh and check the box to add this site as a preferred source on Google.

Ingredients for strawberry banana nice cream

  • strawberries: I used store-bought, organic, frozen strawberries for this recipe but you can use fresh ones as well. And, of course, you can add other berries you have in the fridge.
  • bananas: these give the nice cream that creamy, ice cream-like consistency. Always use very ripe to overripe bananas since they are usually much sweeter.
  • sweetener: sugar, honey, or any other sweet ingredient are optional when it comes to nice cream. If the strawberries are a bit tart, feel free to add a sweetener. Or leave it out for a sugar-free dessert.

Don’t limit yourself to just strawberries, add in any complimentary fruit like blueberries and raspberries. Or forget the strawberries completely and make mango banana nice cream. You can also try chocolate or peanut butter banana nice cream too!

Equipment needed

Here, I used the food processor attachment of my Ninja kitchen system but a high powered blender will also be effective.

How to make strawberry banana nice cream

Prep and freeze

I usually peel my overripe bananas, removing any bad spots. You can leave it whole but I like slicing them into 1-inch to 2-inch pieces.

Next, I often add them to a freezer-safe container or (Ziploc) bag and pop them in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours. They should be completely frozen.

If you are using fresh strawberries, you can rinse them in warm water, remove the tops, cut off any bad spots and pop them in the freezer too. But, I’m using frozen strawberries so I didn’t need to do this.

Blend

I added the frozen strawberries and banana to the food processor. If your strawberries are tart, add a few tablespoons of sugar (or sweetener of choice) to the processor. But, these were great so I didn’t need the extra sweetener.

Blend for 1 to 2 minutes until everything turns into smooth, creamy strawberry banana ice cream.

I served the nice cream immediately! It was so good!

But, you can also add it to a freezer-safe storage container and pop it in the freezer. It can last a month or two in there, and probably longer!
