  • peanut butter: I used smooth peanut butter here but you can try chunky as well.
  • rolled oats: Bob’s Red Mill organic rolled oats are my go-to for all my oat recipes.
  • honey: this brings some balance to the taste of the oat balls so they aren’t overly dominated by the peanut butter flavor.

Equipment

No special equipment is needed here although a tablespoon would be helpful when dividing the mixture to form uniform energy balls.

How to make these no bake peanut butter oat balls

Prep

Here’s a look at everything I used for this recipe.

The only prep I did was to warm the peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften it (you may need to add more time if the peanut butter is cold).

Warmed peanut butter certainly makes it easier to mix with the other ingredients so I definitely recommend it.

That’s it for prep.

Combine and shape

I poured the runny peanut butter into a mixing bowl with the rolled oats and honey.

Then, I used a small silicone spatula to combine everything. You can use your hands if you like. Here’s how it looked once thoroughly incorporated.

I measured out 1 tablespoon of the mixture and rolled it between my palms to form a smooth ball. Repeat this until you have 11 oat balls. I had a few bits left over but not enough to make a twelfth ball.

Here’s a look at how they turned out. They tasted so good! The peanut butter flavor truly comes through. They can be enjoyed immediately or stored in the fridge for 3 days. They also freeze well.

Although this is a 3-ingredient oat ball recipe, you can add a bunch of your favorite ingredients to make them unique. Mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, hazelnut spread, shredded coconut and sesame seeds all come to mind.

Stick to the recipe as it is for a great oat snack. Or add the optional extras to make them more fancy and unique. There are so many ways to customize this to your preferences.
