Ginger Lime Shots: 4-Ingredient Recipe in Under 5 Minutes
Want a citrusy ginger shot with a little zing? These ginger lime shots come together with just 4 ingredients in under 5 minutes. And, it packs a healthy punch, making it an incredible ginger shot.
This ginger lime and honey drink gives you some Vitamin C from the lime, a warming, antioxidant kick from the ginger and a little honey that really rounds out the sharpness.
I usually make my lime ginger shots in small batches so this recipe makes about 4 tall shots. If you want more for the entire week, I’ll explain how to scale up later on. You can freeze the extras too in ice molds and just thaw one whenever you need it.

Ingredients for ginger lime shots
You need just four ingredients for this ginger lime honey drink:
Equipment for this recipe
This is a small volume recipe so you can use a mini blender or a smoothie blender if you like. If you are scaling up the recipe though, a regular sized blender would be a better option.
To make this recipe, I also used a zester to grate the skin of the lime.
Steps for making ginger lime shots
Prep ingredients
I washed and zested the lime before cutting in half and squeezing to get as much juice out as possible. One lime gave me about a tablespoon of juice.
Next, I washed, peeled and grated the ginger. You don’t have to peel or grate the ginger if you like but I prefer doing it to speed up the blending process. Plus, the zester was already used anyway, so why not?

Blend everything
To my smoothie cup, I added the lime juice, lime zest, ginger, honey and water. All that’s left is to blend everything until I had a wonderfully smooth ginger shot.
Here, you should taste test the drink. If the shot is too spicy for you, balance it out with a teaspoon more of honey.
You can pour into tall shot glasses and serve immediately. Or chill in the fridge until you are ready to enjoy them! You can also freeze in ice cube molds too!

Ginger lime and honey benefits
Ginger has antioxidants like gingerol which is anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea. This is why ginger tea is so good for an upset tummy.
Lime introduces low levels of Vitamin C to the drink which is great for boosting immunity. The zest also has nice doses of antioxidant compounds like limonene which has anti-inflammatory and possible anti-cancer benefits.
Honey, while making the drink so much more pleasant, has phenolic acids that are great as antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds.
Scaling up this lime ginger shot recipe
Since this recipe makes 4 shots, you can scale it up to make 16 shots with 4 limes, 1 tsp zest, 2 tbsp ginger, 1/4 cup honey and 4 cups of water. Use a regular sized blender to blend everything together, pour into a glass bottle and refrigerate. It stays well for 3 to 4 days.
If you want to freeze the shots, pour the mixture into silicone ice cube molds and freeze until solid. Store in a freezer bag for up to 2 months. One thawed cube would work as one shot.
