Shark recipes

1. Fried shark bites with Caribbean seasoning

This is my own recipe made with small shark slices that have been marinated with Caribbean green seasoning, battered with seasoned flour and fried to perfection. The herbaceous seasoning infuses with the fish and makes it taste so good.

2. Trinidad bake and shark

Bake and shark is an incredibly popular street food in Trinidad and Tobago. It consists of well seasoned, battered and fried shark meat served in a fried, fluffy bake as a sandwich with vegetables, condiments and delicious sauces.

Eatahfood has a great recipe for everything and uses onion and garlic powder, thyme, paprika, black pepper, lemon juice, chives and chadon beni (culantro) to season the shark. Once marinated, the shark is battered with seasoned flour and fried.

3. Shark fillets with tomatoes and pine nuts

This recipe from Hank involves pan searing shark fillets, that have been seasoned with salt and dusted with flour. Once done and removed from the pan, garlic, toasted pine nuts and tomatoes are tossed in, seasoned, and deglazed with wine before the fillets are added back in. The result is a delightful, one-pot, protein-rich side that can be served as is or with your favorite choice of carbs.

4. Baked shark steaks in soy sauce and rice vinegar

Krista’s recipe is packed with wonderful flavor like rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, parsley, pepper and citrus juice. There is no shortage of sour, bitter, and umami profiles. After marinating the shark steaks, she bakes them in the oven for a total of 30 minutes at 400f. Yum!

5. Baked shark in garlic lemon butter

Here’s another baked shark steak recipe from Tatiana. Her marinade is simple to make with garlic, butter, lemon juice and zest, salt and pepper. The shark and some cherry tomatoes are popped in the oven for 20 to 24 minutes at 425f.

6. Shark curry with Indian spices

This recipe from Anita introduces some incredible Indian flavors to the shark. She cooks garlic, ginger, and chilis in a pan before tossing in the shark pieces, masala and salt. She also adds some tamarind, water, and a little rice flour to create a tangy gravy before garnishing with coriander leaves and more chilis. You can just imagine how delicious and spicy the shark turns out.

7. Curried shark with pigeon peas

This curry isn’t the same as the one above. This one has Caribbean and Trinidadian flare. Teri’s recipe shows you how to cook Trinidad curry powder, cumin, masala, onion, garlic, chadon beni (culantro), pimento (Trinidad seasoning peppers), and pepper before adding in potatoes and water. Once the potatoes are cooked, the seasoned shark and more seasonings are added and left to cook until done. Trini curry is always amazing!

I hope you enjoy making these recipes and do let me know if you have any questions about making shark meat. Of course, you can substitute shark with any sturdy fish and still make these incredible recipes.
