Say that 5 times fast! Orange turmeric ginger shots!

The oranges bring the Vitamin C to the party (over 50% of your daily requirement) and the turmeric and ginger add in the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits. It’s a great combo if you asked me.

If you are interested in wellness shots, I have a bunch on the blog. Here’s a good roundup of homemade ginger shots and you can find some extra turmeric shots too.

Orange turmeric ginger shots ingredients

  • oranges: I got my hands on some navel oranges for this recipe but any sweet variety would do. If not, you can use some store-bought, unsweetened orange juice.
  • ginger
  • turmeric: I always use fresh turmeric in my shots but you can use 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder here. If you’ve ever considered making your own turmeric powder, I have a great instructional guide you can follow.
  • honey: [optional] I like using it to balance the spicy, earthy flavors but it isn’t necessary.

Equipment

I made 3 tall shots here so my go-to equipment is a mini blender or smoothie blender. If you are batch making the shots, a regular sized blender would be better.

How to make these turmeric orange shots

Prep

Here’s a look at some of the ingredients I started off with, though I didn’t use all of the ginger and only needed 2 oranges.

I usually wash and cut the oranges in half before squeezing. An orange can give you anywhere from a quarter cup to a half cup of juice. Luckily, these were juicy and sweet so I only needed 2 for this recipe.

My preference, as you’ll see with all my other ginger and turmeric shots, is to wash, peel and grate the ginger and turmeric. Grating isn’t necessary to do but it helps me obtain exact measurements when creating and recreating the recipes. It also speeds up blending.

Here’s a look at everything prepped and ready.

Blend

Add the grated ginger, turmeric and orange juice to the blender and blend until smooth. Taste test to see if you need honey for extra sweetness. This batch needed so I added a teaspoon of honey and blitzed in the blender for a couple seconds more.

Serve immediately or chill in the fridge until you are ready to enjoy. They make perfect morning shots before breakfast. Feel free to sprinkle a little black pepper on the shots too! It helps with turmeric absorption in the body.
