Orange Ginger Shots Recipe: Easy with 3 Ingredients and 5 Minutes

If you’re looking for a quick orange ginger shots recipe, this one takes just 5 minutes to blend with 3 ingredients. No juicer needed! These little wellness shots are packed with great levels of Vitamin C from fresh orange juice and an anti-inflammatory kick from ginger. That’s what makes them a favorite of mine during cold and flu season.

Ginger can get a little spicy, so if you are not a fan of the heat like me, be sure to stir in a teaspoon of honey to balance the drink out. Of course, if you are fine with the warmth, then consider leaving the honey out and making a 2-ingredient orange wellness shot.

Ingredients for orange ginger shots

  • oranges: I used navel oranges but any variety that is super sweet will be perfect here. If you have organic unsweetened orange juice, you can use that too.
  • ginger: fresh ginger is what I used.
  • honey: [optional] this balances the spicy flavor of ginger.

Equipment

This recipe only makes 3 tall shots so I prefer using the smoothie attachment of my Ninja kitchen system but you can use a mini blender here. You can scale up the recipe if you prefer and a regular sized blender would be more suitable.

How to make orange ginger shots

Prep everything

Wash the oranges, cut them in half and squeeze to obtain that beautiful, sweet juice. Wash and peel the ginger. I usually grate the ginger with a zester but I didn’t here and sliced it instead. Simple and easy!

Blend

Add the orange juice and ginger to a smoothie cup and blend everything until smooth. Once done, taste test and see if you are fine with the spicy ginger levels. If not, add the honey and pulse a couple times to mix it in.

If you are happy with the drink, pour into shot glasses and serve immediately or chill in the fridge and serve when cold. These immunity shots can stay about 2 days in the fridge.

Orange and ginger shots benefits

The orange juice here gives you about 35% of your daily required Vitamin C levels in one small shot! That’s pretty incredible given the antioxidant and immunity boosting benefits of the vitamin.

Ginger also has well-documented antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, thanks to helpful compounds like gingerol.

So together, they certainly aid the body in protecting itself during cold and flu season.
