Ingredients for lemon ginger shots

  • lemon: freshly squeezed lemon juice is best.
  • ginger: fresh ginger is best but you can use ginger powder.
  • honey: any sweetener can work here but honey balances the ginger so well.
  • coconut water: the natural salts of the coconut water come through in the shots and balance all the flavors. Yes, you can use water but coconut water adds more nutrition to your wellness shot.

Equipment for this recipe

This recipe makes just 4 shots, so a mini blender is best suited here. You can also scale up the recipe and use a regular blender or juicer.

And, if you finely grate the ginger with a zester or mince it, you may not even need a blender at all.

How to make lemon ginger shots

Prep everything

To prep, I usually wash, cut and squeeze the lemon, removing any seeds from the juice. And, I peel the ginger and roughly chop it until I have enough to fill my teaspoon.

You don’t have to peel the ginger or even chop it since the blender will take care of that, but it’s a personal preference for me to peel and chop the rhizome.

Blend

Add the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth. Here’s a look at the blended mix before adding to the shot glasses.

That’s it! Serve immediately as shots or store in the fridge for later. It can stay for about 3 days or so in the fridge. You can also freeze any excess in an ice tray if you scale up the recipe and use a block a day.
