Ingredients for this limoncello cocktail

  • limoncello: The brand I used contained alcohol but you can substitute for a non-alcoholic option.
  • vodka: both vodka and gin work well for the martini.
  • lemon: I always use fresh lemons in my cocktails but you can swap for store-bought lemon juice.
  • vermouth: I used a dry vermouth (aromatic wine) which brought the drink together so well.
  • ice: great for keeping everything chilled.
  • garnish: you can line the glass with salt or sugar, or use lemon slices, lemon peel, mint leaves or rosemary sprigs here.

Equipment

No special equipment is needed here. That said, I used a strainer for the lemon juice and a cocktail set for measuring, mixing and bringing the cocktail together.

How to make this limoncello martini

Prep

The main prep involves washing and cutting the lemon, before squeezing and straining the juice. I used 1/2 ounce of lemon juice here which I got from 1/2 a lemon (but this depends on its juiciness, you may need a whole lemon sometimes).

The other prep is optional and it’s about deciding on what garnish you prefer. You can use lemon slices or peel the lemon skin and twist it. Of course, rubbing the lemon on the top of the martini glass and rolling it in salt or sugar is another option.

I prefer a simple lemon slice.

Make the lemon cocktail

To my cocktail shaker, I added in the strained lemon juice, limoncello, vodka, vermouth and ice and gave everything a good shake.

All that’s left is pouring the cocktail into the martini glass and popping the lemon slice on there. It’s that simple to make easy summer cocktails.

Of course, you can enjoy it year round for brunch, girls night or quiet nights in. It’s truly a quick recipe.
