Ingredients for this chocolate banana smoothie

  • bananas: ripe bananas at their optimal sweetness are ideal.
  • milk: I used almond milk in this recipe but any type of dairy or dairy-free milk would be great.
  • cocoa powder: this organic cocoa powder is my go to.
  • honey: I used honey here but you can use maple syrup, sugar or any of your favorite sweeteners. If you don’t want it as sweet, you can skip this altogether.
  • vanilla extract: this adds a subtle pleasant flavor to the drink.

Equipment

For this recipe, I used the smoothie cup attachment of my Ninja kitchen system. It does such a good job blending everything together. And, you can use the larger blender attachment if you want to scale up the recipe. Of course, a regular blender like this one will also work well here.

Serve immediately with banana slices on top and a dusting of cocoa powder. Or add some granola as a topping. If you are not having the drink immediately, refrigerate it. It should last 2 to 3 days in the fridge.
